Hey..I applied for nursing school at UTMB with a 3.45 gpa…all 61 hours prereqs done, but my healthcare experience is that I work in the pathology lab as a specimen processor….I get exposed to lab procedures on tests and various specimens… I talk to nurses and doctors about result outcome and various reference questions such as DNA tests, coagulation, and microbiology tests…Is this a good healthcare experience… I also assist in blood draws through our outpatient lab,, I do not draw blood but I do assist the Phlebotomist … I know all chemistry,hematology, and reference tests….Do you guyz think this a good healthcare experience for nursing school to consider???? I know hospital procedures and how things work around the hospital…I have been working in the pathology lab for a year…working mostly with Medical Technologists and phlebotimists….Give me some advice..if do you think UTMB can see this as good healtcare experience….Thanks
