Bill B asked:

I have worked in healthcare for about 12 yrs now and this industry in unbelievable for a number of factors. One of the recent trends that is developing widespread support for his the concept of Price Transparency.

Per Aetna “Through price transparency, consumers know what they can expect to pay at the physician’s office before visiting the physician. While this approach sounds sensible, no health insurer had ever provided this level of detail to its members. The reasons for this were varied - contractual issues, competition and complexities in the rates physicians agree to accept from insurers, concerns about consumers shopping for health care on price alone.”

So my question to you is:
Why do you not demand the price for services before they are rendered from your healthcare providers? You won’t do the same before you agreed to an automobile repair, a purchase of household goods, so why is it okay for healthcare to keep you in dark? What info would you expect to have access to?
