julie asked:

I am doing a report on healthcare in the United States and need information and opinions about healthcare in other countries. Can anyone tell me about the healthcare in your country? Do you have Universal Healthcare? Do you feel that you receive adequete treatment? Have you ever been denied treatment? Do you receive emergency medical care in a timely fashion? What are your views on healthcare in the U.S.?

For those in the United States, how do you feel about your healthcare? Do you think you should have gov. run healthcare? Have you ever been denied treatment that you needed from a healthcare company? Do you feel that you receive emergency medical treatment in a timely fashion? What are your views on Universal Healthcare in other countries?

Any answers are appreciated and feel free to elaborate. Also, don’t forget to tell me what country you are from. Thanks!
emp: I appreciate your answer, but you’re very wrong about hospitals being the one’s who are able to deny service. Privately run healtcare companies in the United States deny neccessary procedures and treatments to their customers everyday. That is mainly what I am concerned about. Even though we pay for private coverage that the government tells us is better than Universal Healthcare, we still have people that die every year because they were denied treatment that was needed or their healthcare company found a way to disqualify them from being eligable for treatment after the fact and then they are forced into debt or bankrupcy to pay for something they were told would be covered. It seems to me that in other countries with Universal Healthcare the general rule is that no one is turned away. Is that correct, any thoughts?
No, I’m not saying that a hospital will deny you service if you have the cash for a procedure, they would have no reason to do that. What I am saying is that people are often denied the coverage for necessary procedures by their healthcare companies. My point is that you are not as protected as you may think. Even if you pay a healthcare company every month to insure you, there are multiple ways that they can deny you service when you need it. This is only one example, but there are countless more like it. Check out this story:

For most procedures such as hip replacements and feel vulnerable without it and there can sometimes involve lengthy wait unless you are at deaths door and general hospital care is subsidised you are at deaths.
