One of the harsh facts that plagues the health care industry in the United States is the endless increase of its prices to the extent where in most people can no longer afford it. This terrible circumstance in the health care market affects everyone no matter what is your social standing. It is surprising that even in wealthy and powerful countries like the United States there are more than 45 million people who do not have health care insurance, which is roughly 15% of its total population.

You might be well aware that the health care costs have reached astronomical level and because of this, small corporations find it hard to provide health benefits for their employers. Workers are left with no other choice but to shoulder the expenses of their health care which leaves them with no better and inexpensive coverage. The 4 percent increase of the workers’ income is not enough to cover the 15% increase in the insurance payments. Not only that, in the next coming years, it is expected that the rate of the basic family premiums will get to the level of more than $14, 000 a year.

The extent of the health care predicament has reached to a very alarming proportion, a point where in people starts to lose hope in their government due to the lack of acceptable and decent health care policies that will cater for their basic health care concerns. Small business owners are prone to this problem because unlike huge corporations they are not given the luxury to buy affordable health care insurance.

Years ago, there has been so many health issues and apprehensions that envelope health care industry when it comes to its quality, accessibility, the freedom to choose the right doctor and the kind of treatment that is required for a certain kind of ailment. Because of these concerns, the government has implemented a system which is called supervised care and this is through the assistance of HMOs or health maintenance organizations of which most doctors and clients alike are not so very happy about. This is because with HMO, most of the decisions that have something to do with crucial health treatment are done by those people who are not really employees of medical insurance company.

The implementation of the managed care has significantly decreased the cost of the health care expenses; however, this does not necessarily mean that the quality of their health care service is also good. The truth of the matter is that the quality of the services has suffered greatly which caused for so many patients to lose trust in HMOs. Also, patients do not have so much choice when it comes to treatment and doctors that they want.

The inability on the part of the patient to choose the best treatment and physician that will take care of their medical problems best have led for the medical system in general to become negligent this is due to the fact that competition among medical practitioners have dwindled down which caused for some patients to stay away from them.
