Universal Healthcare?

I’m 14 and just saw the movie Sicko and I was wondering why can’t we get universal healthcare? Is the American government that corrupted that they would deny desperately needed surgeries to patients just for many? The movie said that after Hilary Clinton tried to establish a healthcare system, the government claimed that the U.S. economy would be chaos because of its size. This can’t be true since Canada is a rather large country and it has healthcare. I’m considering moving to the UK when I get older if the healthcare doesn’t get better.

You’re young so I’m sure you haven’t been exposed to the other side of the argument. Why do you think doctor’s are doctors? Do you think they all do it just because they want to help people or do you think they want to make a lot of money, and helping people is a plus? When the government gets involved they also decide how much doctors can charge, and be paid. Suddenly the best doctors who where well compensated aren’t and they seek other careers like cosmetic surgery that isn’t handled by the government. This is happening in Canada. In the US where there is already a shortage of people in the medical field I find it scary!

Unfortunately, some Americans do not understand that in our Constitution it says, ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’. The ‘life’ part is where we should have access to universal health care. Those misguided Americans believe it is a ‘for profit’ business. Yet, our government can spend as Ron Paul says, trillions for wars. Something, as you have pointed out is very wrong here.
